What is a multisite?
By a multisite we mean the concept where two or more websites exist, but with a common basis. The simplest example is two websites under two different domain names (or subdomain names), with or without a different layout in relation to each other.
When a company has two websites, but both websites are on separate webhostings, each has its own backend/CMS and there is no shared content, we are not talking about a multisite.
The right approach for your websites
For example, the common basis of these websites can be a single backend (CMS) with which several websites are managed, but that doesn't have to be the case. In this whitepaper we will explain more about the different possibilities, to help you decide on the right approach for your organisation.
The three most common approaches
Different interpretations and approaches are possible for a multisite setup, ranging from very simple to quite technical and complex. In this whitepaper we discuss the three most common ones. Of course, there are many intermediate forms. Everything depends on the philosophy you adhere to when setting up the platform.
