Online ecosystem where learning is key
In collaboration with Edfin, BZB-Fedafin launched a training platform to raise the knowledge of intermediaries in banking and investment services to a higher level. An extensive offer of not only classroom training and exams, but also e-learning courses.

Edfin is a training platform of BZB-Fedafin, the professional association for intermediaries in banking and investment services, insurance and credit. More precisely, Edfin is intended for those who are part of PC 341, the joint committee for intermediation in banking and investment services. With Edfin, BZB-Fedafin organises a wide range of continuous education courses to strengthen the competences and professional qualifications of financial professionals. Employees who are part of PC 341 can follow these training courses for free.
The question
Edfin organises the offer of continuous training for employees of PC 341, the joint committee for intermediation in banking and investment services. This offer consists primarily of classroom training and exams, but as a future-oriented organisation, Edfin gave e-learning a prominent place on the roadmap of the new training platform.
At Edfin, we dare to look ahead. That is why a high-quality e-learning environment is an important part of our training platform.
Albert Verlinden, CEO BZB-Fedafin
Therefore Edfin was looking for a partner to set up a clear, informative platform where its members can get a clear overview of all relevant training courses, register and manage their file. All this linked to a full LMS (Learning Management System) in which e-learning modules and online exams can also be organised.
The end goal: a large online ecosystem in which learning is central and office owners are in the driving seat to manage their employees' training.
Our solution
In order to translate the customer's vision into reality, customisation was obviously required. The main ingredients from a technical point of view were PHP, Symfony and ElasticSearch. For the e-learning part we could build on our expertise with the online learning platform Sofia, which was neatly linked to Edfin's content environment.
In the LMS (Learning Management System), different types of users are granted access to different functions depending on their role. For instance, as an individual user you can find suitable training courses, link your profile to an office or organisation, consult your FSMA points and more.
An office manager can use Edfin to follow up his employees' training requests, consult the training history, etc. Trainers and training providers can manage their offer. This way, the different target groups are nicely interconnected in the system.
Those who register on Edfin are shown a certain segment of training based on their profile, so that the offer is always relevant.
The result
Three years after the launch of the new platform, there are almost 200 training courses on offer. More than 3,000 training courses have already been followed, and this number continues to rise.
